Fallen Princesses

In this picture I see a woman dressed like Cinderella and looking like Cinderella, but her actions in this picture is not of a fairy tale princess. I see Cinderella chillin' at a bar, alone. She is the only female in sight. Cinderella is sitting in a small round table holding up a shot glass. There is advertisment posters everywhere along with the Canadian flag up on the ceiling. The majority of the men surrounding her are far older then she is. Some of the men have their eye's focused on Cinderella. The whole room is dark. The only things that brighten up the room is a jukebox, a neon sign, and Cinderella herself. All three are basically the same color, baby blue.

Cinderella's holds a very depressing future. Clearly something has gone wrong in her life. A tragic event, maybe? Or she could of broken up with Prince Charming. The photographer shows Cinderella at a bar drowing her sorrows with alcohol. She's spaced out, not even bothering to noticed that men her senior are just eyeballing her. Cinderella's posterior is not one of a princess. Cinderella is starring endlessly at the shot glass she has in her hand.

When I first saw this picture two words came to my head, bizzare and depressing. I mean when you think of a Disney princess you think of her in a magical castle surrounded by colorful flowers and with a smile on her face, certainly not in a bar! Which I find that very bizzare! You would not want your little girls to see Cinderella in this state of mind. Depressing, because there is nothing cheery about this. If you over look the fact that the picture expresses Cinderella's opposite attitue and the idea of making fun of Disney, there is nothing in this picture that puts a smile on your face when you see this.
Transformers mixed with live battle action from Iraq is what I see when I look at this picture. The picture is so intense. The light blue of the sky assures me that it was a beautiful day, but even that couldn't stop battle. Jasmines holds a firm grip on a rifle and a chain of bullets is dangling from her neck. Along with a couple of grenades in her belt. She's wearing a provocative purple- pinkish camouflage outfit that matches perfectly with the flowers on the sandy grown and that tiara she has on her head.

Thrill, death, victory, loses, and endless nights awaits this Indian princess. Jasmine is in the middle of a battle war. Helicopters, explosions, tanks, and smoke are all present in this picture, all of which cause distruction and death. Jasmine has a look on her face like her surrondings don't scare her, a looks that says she holds victory. A life like this is not very promising.

I'm shocked! You would never of pictured Princess Jasmine as a mean killing machine. Jasmine's life is full of excitment, it's dangerous excitment, but never the less excitment. I feel empowered looking at this picture. Just seeing a women wearing what she's wearing and standing in a live battle growned with that look she has on her face makes me want to be just like her. Fearless.

A retirement home is where I believe the setting is. There is a fire place in between bookshelfs and pink flowers all indicaing that they happen to be in the living room. In this photograph there is six senior citizens, three males and three females. All of which are engaged in a time passing activity. Except one. One of the elderly man is not doing anything entertainning. Instead he looks to be thinking. There is something terribly wrong. Sadness fills his eyes. That's not the only thing that sets him apart from the rest of the senior citizens. He is also dress differently. He's dressed like one would dress centuries ago, something like royalty, kind of like a prince. The prince is sitting on a bed where a young beautiful women lays sleeping endlessly.

Her life is dictated. Her life since she shut her eyes has been dictated and as time goes by she's still dictated. Dictated by the curse that won't let her awake up. The curse of the sleeping beauty. Only a kiss from her true love can wake her up. By looking at this picture it's obvious that the prince hasn't caught up to the idea. Years have gone by and the Princess lays asleep. The Prince is getting old and sooner or later the Prince will die without kissing her. dooning them both to a eternal sleep.

I find this picture very amusing! It's funny how the old Prince never found the cure to the sleeping beauty curse, when it's pretty obvious in the movie. The Prince grew old waiting for his one true love to wake up from the curse, which is sad. I think it's very creative how the photographer set the whole thing up. An original idea for the setting to be in a retirement home. Overall this picture excites me and makes me want to see more!

  1. You have great idaes about the photos and do a fantastic job of explaining them. There are a couple important typos: proof read for proper punctuation (Jasmines, Cinderella's), Jasmine is not Indian-she is perhaps Persian or Middle Eastern or maybe Iraqi in this image. Last is Cinderella's posterior-I think you meant posture. Very good observations and inferences!
